The Resource Opportunity Center
Located near downtown Atlanta, the ROCK is a collaborative intake and referral
center for the homeless, with on-site agencies providing job training, health care referrals, and
case management.
The Resource Opportunity Center ("the ROCK") was created to provide a
place for homeless individuals and families to access supportive services and to house an intake, assessment,
referral and case management program for the homeless population. This landmark center was modeled on
successful programs in other major cities and is a joint effort of the business community and a number
of service providers to the homeless. The transitional services offered at this site are aimed at
getting people off the streets, facilitating health and recovery, and promoting independent lives.
The development of the ROCK involved extensive interior and exterior renovations to all of the formerly
vacant, abandoned warehouse buildings plus significant landscaping to create a welcoming campus. The
ROCK has been so successful that the City of Atlanta plans to establish a larger facility based
on the same model, at which time the personnel and programs now at the ROCK will transfer to the
new Gateway Center in Atlanta.
