Danielle D. Brown — Housing Coordinator
Danielle D. Brown comes to PCCI from the Living Room, Inc. where she provided intensive mental health case management to homeless people living with HIV/AIDS and worked in the area of transitional housing. She graduated magna cum laude from Texas State University in 2004 and has worked since 1999 in the non-profit arena.

Since 1999, Project Community Connections, Inc. (PCCI) has been assisting individuals and families experiencing homelessness to reestablish themselves in communities and find a place to call home. In close collaboration with numerous human services providers and a wide range of property representatives, PCCI has placed hundreds of men, women and children into permanent housing settings that meet their particular needs for location, price and accessibility.

During the summer of 2005 PCCI was selected by the Mayor’s Commission on Homelessness to be the non-profit partner, joining the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to promote and establish www.georgiahousingsearch.org, the statewide affordable housing locator base. The original thought behind the web site was to help identify affordable housing for those left homeless by Hurricane Katrina yet its mission and audience has expanded far beyond its original intent to provide housing resources to a much wider audience.

ghsGeorgia Housing Search is an on-line locator service that is key to “finding the right rental, right now, right where you want to live in Georgia.” This revolutionary innovation provides a cost effective and efficient platform with the power to:
  • Increase housing opportunities for Georgia’s workforce, student and senior populations;
  • Identify housing options for homeless and special needs individuals;
  • Support Georgia’s economic and transportation goals.

Since its inception in 2005, the system has registered over 100,000 housing units statewide and processes about 7,000 searches each day.

This service is free to consumers and landlords, and contains extensive unit and amenity information. The efforts of this statewide program are directed by an Advisory Council chaired by Dave Stockert, President and CEO of Post Properties. The membership includes representatives from housing authorities, large property management firms, non-profit executives and housing organization leaders.

In 2009, PCCI placed 339 unduplicated clients in housing, up from 247 in 2008.
