Providing Care

For many households, just having a decent, affordable place to live would be enough to make things better. However, after years of getting to know our residents and their concerns, PRI understands that offering the right kind of support to certain households can mean the difference between progressing economically and socially or remaining trapped in poverty and dependence. To ensure that residents have a fair chance to improve their quality of life, PRI created the subsidiary, CaringWorks, Inc.

By leveraging partnerships with other agencies, CaringWorks delivers need-appropriate services that promote self-sufficiency, provide a safety net in tough times, and foster opportunities for residents to positively impact their community. Among key services:

• Learning Link School-age Care programs – provided so mothers won't have to choose between paying for after-school care or paying the rent, and kids can be prepared to succeed in school.
• Job and computer training – to develop skills that lead to greater economic independence.
• Individual and group counseling – to support recovery from addiction and strengthen life skills.
• Crisis intervention – to provide a safety net of support in times of need.
• Community building – to help residents form tenant associations and cooperatives, resulting in better neighbors and more engaged citizens.

Helping our residents to help themselves and become stakeholders in their neighborhoods creates more economically successful – and more caring – communities for everyone.
